Flower Festival 2012
St Leonard’s Flower Festival – May 12 and 13
As mentioned in the January edition, in this very exciting year, we plan to have a Flower Festival, It will mainly celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games but we know there are other anniversaries at the Baptist Free Church and St Andrew’s, Chelmsley Wood and special dates for fans of Charles Dickens. The King James Bible (2011) and the Book of Common Prayer. We hope to celebrate all of these in flowers.
We will be asking for support and sponsorship from the Airport, the Parish Council, Solihull Council, Barclay’s Bank and other businesses. Any individual donation would, of course be also very gratefully received.
We plan to depict in flowers on all windowsills at the church, some if not all of the sports participating in the Olympic Games. We are asking individuals to use their imagination and artefacts to fill the windowsill. If you are willing to do this would you let Pauline Griffiths or Audrey Horsley know which sport you would like to do. If you would just like to sponsor a window for £5, please also do this and we will find someone to decorate your window.
There will be a Market Day and Festival on the Saturday 12th, and we hope to provide refreshments throughout the weekend.
Please help to make this a memorable weekend in the life of all who live in or near Marston Green.
